Come join us for our 2010 CSA call out!

Happy new year!!
I hope everyone had a great holiday season. This one was extra special for us. It really has been amazing to share our holidays with Jensen. He is doing great; growing and changing every day and already 3 months old!
It us hard to believe that we will be starting up the greenhouse in just four weeks. Looking outside on days like today, summer seems a long way off, but it will certainly be here soon. We are working hard on our planting schedule.
We are excited for this coming season, where all of our energy can be placed on our crops. The house is almost complete, with just the outside to finish. Some of our buildings are getting rearranged to make our work a little smoother. We will be expanding our operation a little more this year by leasing another 15 acre parcel on the farm, which now puts us around 26 acres of land to work with. This will allow more room for healthy rotations of cover crops and fallow ground for the future.
Thanks to all who have rejoined our CSA program for this year. We are already off to a great start with membership signups. Our CSA program is perhaps our most exciting oppurtunity for growth. Last year was the first year, and we feel like we learned a lot from that experience, which is why we decided finally to have a call-out meeting. The membership program will have some changes for this coming year; same concept, but with a new approach.
We are going to give you a choice on what is in your share for the week. At the pick up location we will set up similar to our market booth, with each item having a value of either 1/2 unit or 1 full unit. Full share members will have 9 units per week to spend and half share members will have 5.
This new process should help us and you in a few ways. We don't have to decide exactly what each one of you would like to eat each week, nor spend a large amout of time and labor packaging the veggies. This means if you want to can green beens or tomatoes one week then you can load up on green beens or tomatoes and nothing else. You can chose to spread it out any way you like. Each week we will have a given selection to chose from, and a suggestion as to how you might like to use them. We are excited about this new process and welcome your feedback.
We are pleased to annouce that we will host an informal meeting to discuss our program and answer any questions you may have. Membership options for this coming season are set up online, if you would like to pay with credit card.We will sign you up manually at the meeting if you prefer payment by check. We have reserved the Classroom in the basement of the Crawfordsville Public Lirary for Jan. 23 at 1:00 p.m.We look forward to seeing you all there and hope that you will pass this information along to anyone you think may be interested.
Thanks

Lali Hess sent your site to me. Will try to be at the C'ville library Saturday for the meeting. Hoping my current enthusiasm lasts thru the winter! I'm SO glad you're where you are, doing what you're doing!
